Sustainability and environmental-friendly behaviors have been a growing concern of customers, businesses, and governments. With the UAE planning to ban single-use plastic by 2024, restaurants need to adapt to the new regulations and consumers’ expectations. Here are 4 tips to make your business more environmental-friendly:

1. Make cutlery an option
Allow customers to choose rather they want and need cutlery with their order instead of including it by default. You can easily add this option as part of your ChatFood menu.

2. Discourage single-use plastic
Discourage single-use plastic by making customers pay extra. You will not only make sure that your business is compliant with the UAE regulations but you will also be able to positively influence your customers’ behavior.

3. Invest in sustainable packaging
When it comes to delivery and pickup, the packaging is an important part of the experience and of your branding. It has to look nice and work for the type of food you are offering. Picking sustainable options will reduce your environmental footprint while aligning your brand with efforts that matter for our society and future generations.

4. Explore hyper-local delivery models
Explore implementing hyper-local delivery options in your area. Do you have offices or residential buildings within walking distance of your venue? Offer pickup or add QR codes to desks, sun beds, or on customers’ fridges, to encourage hyper-local orders that can be serviced by walking or bike-riding riders. Get more local and loyal customers and minimize your impact on the environment, it’s a win-win!
